This week Lynne talks to her friend, the hugely successful film producer Alison Owen.
As a single mother in London, Alison forged her path in the film industry by starting out on student films and eventually building an outstanding career. Her credits as a producer include Moonlight and Valentino, Elizabeth, Sylvia, Shaun of the Dead, Proof, The Other Boleyn Girl, Brick Lane, Chatroom, Saving Mr. Banks, Tulip Fever, How to Build A Girl and the upcoming Witch Finders Sister.
As well as discussing her career from the beginnings to today, Lynne and Alison also discuss the BLM, Me Too and Times Up movements, and the need for systemic change across the industry.
More and more women are taking charge of the narrative and we are seeing the waves of new exciting artists like BAFTAs Rising Star Award winner Bukky Barkay paving the way forward in the film industry.
In this episode, I also discuss the film events that have been held at the SEED Hub, including when Afraa Hashem, who appeared in the Syrian documentary and BAFTA winner, For Sama, came to stay and share her experiences. I will also be talking you through one of my unique SEED exercises where you can become the filmmaker of your own life.
