Episode 36 - ADHD, Autism and Neurodiversity: Amazing Minds
with Hester Grainger
In this enlightening episode Lynne sits down with Hester Grainger, a passionate advocate for ADHD, autism, and neurodiversity. Hester shares her personal journey of being a “later in life” diagnosed individual, revealing the challenges and insights that have shaped her into one of the leading voices on this important topic.
Throughout the episode, Hester provides invaluable strategies for embracing neurodiversity both in personal and professional contexts and they explore the increasing need for recognition of neurodiversity in communities and the transformative potential of advocacy.
Having been diagnosed with ADHD at 43, former TV and radio presenter Hester Grainger is a certified ADHD coach, keynote speaker and co-founder of neurodiversity consultancy Perfectly Autistic. Hester launched Perfectly Autistic in 2020 with her husband Kelly, after he was diagnosed as autistic and with ADHD. They support companies with neurodiversity training, talks, workplace mediation and ADHD coaching.
Hester started her career presenting on Channel 5’s The Wright Stuff, then working on Loose Women at ITV, before moving into a successful career in PR. Recently she had her own show on BBC radio.
When Hester isn’t working, she is busy being a mum to her two autistic/ADHD teens – both have ARFID and her daughter was recently diagnosed as dyspraxic too.
This year Hester is going on a UK wide theatre tour with her show ADHD Unmasked. This unique and interactive event is a refreshing, engaging and fun opportunity to take a closer look at ADHD and hear inspiring stories and experiences during the dopamine filled evening. Hester will be at over 30 theatres across England, Scotland and Wales.
